City gov't allots P25M budget for Dinagyang 2020

ILOILO CITY, Sept. 17 (PIA6) - The Iloilo City government has allocated P25 million funding as assistance to the staging of Dinagyang Festival 2020.

"We are ready to sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI) for an assistance of a total of P25 million," said Iloilo City mayor Jerry Trenas during the launching of Dinagyang 2020 held Sept. 16 at Hotel Del Rio here.

He said that the funding will be disbursed in two tranches - P15 million will be released from October to December, while the remaining P10 million will be disbursed in January.

The city government here will also add P3-million worth of projects to be identified by the winning school for the champion; P2-million for second placer and P1-million for third placer.

All participating schools will also get P1-million worth of projects to be taken from the Special Education Fund (SEF) of the Local School Board.

Meanwhile, Dinagyang Festival 2020 will also introduce new activities including the Iloilo Arts Festival 2020 from January 18-25, 2020; Miss Iloilo 2020 on January 20, 2020, and Dagyang sa Calle Real from January 25 to 26, 2020.

Dagyang sa Calle Real will replace the Kasadyahan Regional Cultural Competition which will be moved to another month. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
